This summer, we have seen pregnant starlets "popping up" all over Hollywood. Kendra's got her Baskett-bun-ny in the oven, Sarah Michelle Gellar is expecting her own junior vampire slayer, Ellen Pompeo's bump has been blasted all over the Internet. And while we here on the Hollywire Green Scene are not experts on the child delivery process, we can follow in the foot steps of Jessica Alba and Halle Berry who greened their baby nurseries last summer and offer some eco tips regarding how this summer's pregnant starlets can green their baby nurseries.

  • REUSE. Creating new products produces Carbon emissions. Reusing existing furniture (cribs, drawers, changing tables) helps reduce your carbon footprint.  That provides simple reasoning for your celeb babies health. If you do reuse existing furniture, solid wood is best.

  • CLEAR THE AIR. An air filter, such as Baby's Breath Air Filter by Austin Air can have a major impact on your child's health. According to their site, the Baby's Breath Air Filter can "remove 99.97% of airborne particles 0.3 microns or larger. Studies prove that the air we breathe indoors is actually 3 to 5 times worse than the air outdoors, which adversely affects our immune system, increases the risk of asthma, allergies and even heart attacks. And, a recent Harvard study reports that such toxins are linked to impaired fetal and child brain development. That is why clean, pure air is so crucial for the health of your baby. The Baby's Breath effectively removes toxins such as mold spores, tobacco smoke, pet allergens and dust mites from the air."

  • LOW VOC PAINT. We've heard the term VOC but how many of us know what that means? Volatile Organic Compounds can cause allergies, asthma and several other conditions. Be sure to use a paint brand such as Benjamin Moore's Eco Spec which have a low VOC and according to their site, "meet stringent environmental safety requirements."

  • COMBAT GERMS BUT BE ECO FRIENDLY CLEAN. Be sure to keep baby's room germ free by cleaning with organic cleaning products. Try BabyGanics "The Sparkle Maker, Glass and Surface Cleaner" in Lavendar scent. Check out the wide variety of products at www.babyganics.com
