Chris Brown Only Receives Probation & Community Service For Beating Rihanna
Chris Brown took a plea bargain in his assault case against his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. In exchange for this guilty plea, Chris received five years of probation and has to serve 180 days doing community service in his home state of Virginia.
Following the hearing, Chris' lawyer, Mark Gregaras, addressed the media saying,

This is rediculous. Who cares if the kid has ever been in trouble before. I mean if the kid stole some candy from a liquor store this would be the proper speech. But the guy used his girlfriend has a punching bag and left her to die. Chris deserves some jail time if you ask me. If he wasn't a celebrity you know he would.
On top of the probation and community service, the judge also ordered a protective order forbidding the singer
from contacting Rihanna and a 50 yard stay-away order which demands that both parties keep their distance from one another.
Rihanna was present but was not called upon to testify. I'm a little bummed about that. I wonder how she feels about Chris punishment. If someone beat me up the way Chris did Rihanna, I would want the most extreme punishment allowed. Violence is never the answer.
