Posted on 15 June 2009 by Tammy Cakes

Musicians have caught on that people now a days are not listening to regular radio as frequently anymore. We have moved on to something much simpler, commercial free, and plays songs of our likings… online radio. In order for us to stay connected to different artists and their music, an online radio show is being inroduced which features 24 hours worth of the artists favorite songs, interviews and commentaries. The new programming is being referred to as “a.p.e.”, which stands for artist personal experience. The first artists to jump on board are Christina Aguilera, Weezer and The Eagles have all teamed up with Clear Channel to create their own online radio show, which is set to launch in July.

Front Line founder/CEO Irving Azoff, who also serves as CEO of Ticketmaster Entertainment says, “We feel that the old model of trying to get radio airplay and some video play is broken. We were looking for a seven-days-a-week, 24-hour artist online venture, and the radio channel seems to make real sense.”

Christina is excited to be one of the first artists on board.

She says, “I am so excited to be one of the first artists on a.p.e. Fans always write to ask me what I like and listen to, which makes this such a great opportunity for me to share my musical inspirations with them. My channel is going to be a special place for my fans to find out about my new music, upcoming tours and lots of other news and original content. It’s going to be fun.”

The a.p.e. radio channels will be broadcast on Clear Channel’s local radio station Web sites, through the company’s iheartradio iPhone and BlackBerry application, and widgets placed on the artists’ Web sites. I think that this is a very smart idea!
