A Seattle woman is suing magician David Cooperfield for sexually assaulting and threatening her while she was a guest of his on his private island.
Cooperfield’s lawyers Angelo Calfo and Patty Eakes are denying these allegations and saying that the lawsuit is “extortion for money, plain and simple.”
The Seattle Times describes the woman as a 22 year old fashion model and former Miss Washington. She met Cooperfield during a January 2007 performance in Kennewick and that year she stayed with him on his private island.
The report claims “Copperfield … attacked and sexually assaulted her” and “threatened to kill her,” despite her attempts to fight him off, which left her “extremely traumatized.”
Copperfield’s lawyers have responded saying, “The facts are that there were more than 20 women and men on the island during her visit. The allegation that there was no one on the island to help her – even if she needed help – is preposterous.”
The Times say that the lawsuit was filed July 29 in federal court in Seattle. That date was the deadlie for a two-year statute of limitations.
This isn’t the first time Cooperfield has been accused of sexual assult. Back in 2007, the FBI investigated Cooperfield after a sexual misconduct lawsuit was filed. At the time, a lawyer for the magician said, “If in fact those are the allegations, unfortunately false allegations are all too often made against famous individuals. But we are confident the investigation will conclude favorably.”

I bet he wishes he could make these claims magically disappear.

That is a bunch of hooey. Why did she wait so long. He is a good looking man I’m sure he would not to have to resort to those kind of things. She thought she could make a bundle of money from him.
