GLAAD Demands Apology From Perez Hilton For Using Anti-Gay Slur Towards Will.i.am
GLAAD is super mad at Perez Hilton for his anti-gay slur towards BEP Will.i.am and they want him to issue a public apology for his absurd behavior.
Perez made headlines yesterday when he posted a video telling everyone how outraged he was at the BEP's and their manager Polo. He said at one point he called Will.i.am a "f**king f*ggot" because he wanted to hurt his feelings like Will.i.am hurt his. Click here to see the video and read about the fight that went down.
GLAAD said,
"We have reached out to Hilton and asked him to apologize for promoting this anti-gay slur, and we would ask media outlets to avoid repetition of the slur in their coverage of this story. For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is, quote, 'The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,' is incredibly dangerous. It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes."
But instead of apologizing, Perez issued a statement that says how pissed he is that GLAAD is pissed and he wants an apology from them,
"I am saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent. While I doubt I will get an apology from GLAAD, nor do I expect one, I would just hope people know how difficult it is to intellectualize a situation and think rationally when a thug disguised as a musician is screaming at your face and intimidating you. I am just very fortunate and grateful that nothing more serious happened to me."
Who's side are you on? This is a tuffy. I see GLAAD's side, Perez should not have used that kind of language, he knows better. But than again when you are being attacked and don't want to resort to violence, you resort to words and that was the only thing he could think of that would make Will.i.am back down. So in that case I'm for Perez. The whole fight was ridiculous to me so in the end I'm for no one. This is totally high school girl drama, come on guys, play nice.
