Katy Perry's Lawsuit Against Katie Perry
This is just ridiculous if you ask me.Fashion designer Katie Perry, who has been selling clothes under her name for the past two years and has her own storefront, has recently filed paperwork to trademark her name for the store and her line. But to her surprise, shortly after filing her paperwork she receives a request to stop her from using her own name- a name that she was born with- from an Australian law firm representing singer Katy Perry. If Katie doesn’t back down, a lawsuit will follow, and a judge will decide which Perry prevails.
Designer Katie Perry was quoted in the MTV article saying,
“I got such a huge shock. It really felt like I was being intimidated and bullied into signing everything away. It asked me to give up the trademark, withdraw sales of my clothes, withdraw any advertising
and any Web sites and sign that I will not in the future use a similar trademark to Katy Perry. I pretty much burst into tears.”
I would see this making sense of Katy planned on having her own fashion line. But since there has been no word of that, I really don't get the problem. It just seems that she is being a b**ch and destroying this poor woman's life and dreams because she can.
