Nick Jonas Heads To Washington D.C. To Fight For Diabetes Research

Popeater reports that Nick Jonas took time out off fromĀ "The Jonas Brother" and headed to Washington D.C. for a Senate hearing to speak on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Nick testified today before a Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee hearing on federal funding for diabetes research.
"I'm really looking forward to testifying before the Senate Committee on behalf of all JDRF Children's Congress delegates to ask Congress to support research to find a cure," Jonas said in a press release on the organization's Web site.

Nick was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 13. He revealed his condition to the public in 2007 at a Diabetes Research Institute fundraiser.
Nick spent Tuesday lobbying in Washington for diabetes research and visiting the Capitol Hill office of Sen.. Frank Lautenberg, D-NJ. He also met with President Barack Obama at the White House and posed for a picture with other kids and teens living with diabetes.
"I'm excited," the 16-year-old pop icon told People. "This is the first time I'm meeting the president. It's gonna be fun."
