Scott Baio's Baby Bailey is Doing Fine

Scott Baio told the media Tuesday that the initial terminal diagnosis given to his newborn baby was false. We all put our faith and trust in doctors, but it is easy to forget that they are mere mortals who make mistakes, just like the rest of us.

Baio's baby girl Bailey tested positive for a potentially fatal disorder just one day after she came home from the hospital last November. Good gravy! Can you imagine?

Not only that, this poor couple has had their fair share of issues with this pregnancy. Originally, they were expecting twins.
"We were lying in bed and there was a problem, so we rush to the hospital and the doctor looks at her and says, 'I'm sorry, you're miscarrying.' Last year was a rough, very rough year."

"I was on bed rest for nine weeks trying to keep the other baby, then we had her five weeks early. It was an emotional roller coaster," adds Renee.

Scott Baio, who is 46, and his wife, Renee Sloan, were given the diagnosis that Bailey, born premature, might have GA-1, a metabolic disorder that can cause seizures and lead to coma and death.

Further testing took a long and heart-wrenching 10 weeks, but doctors returned to say that Bailey was completely healthy. Thank goodness!

Baio is best known as Chachi Arcola on the sitcom Happy Days and the star role in Charles in Charge, but has recently had his own VH1 reality series titled Scott Baio Is 45...and Single. The show was then followed by a second season, titled Scott Baio Is 46...and Pregnant.
