This Week's Rants & Raves
Rants:
Rihanna gets back with Chris Brown
After Chris Brown allegedly brutalized his girlfriend Rihanna, people were shocked and horrified--but everyone's horror intensified 10-fold when they learned that they got back together. People have begun to say that maybe Rihanna did something to deserve this; or that if she is stupid enough to get back together with him, then she definitely deserves it. However, instead of disgust for Rihanna, people should feel sorrow and show support, because what seems to be happening is that she is being caught up in the cycle of abuse. This is compounded by her admittance that this kind of thing has happened in the past, and it is getting worse as time progresses. My outrage is that people in her life aren't standing up and keeping him away from her, especially when she is in such a fragile state of emotions. It is incredibly hard to break the cycle of abuse, and much more difficult to do it alone. Fans of Rihanna should continue to show her support, and hope that her family and friends will do the same. The Bachelor Finale

Did you know you could take back an engagement proposal? I didn't. With all the weird turnabouts (swapping contestants as fiancees; Deanna returning for a guest appearance)--not to mention the continual cattiness of the women--the Bachelor has come to resemble the parody of Flavor of Love (okay, maybe comparing Deanna to New York is a bit rough, but still). Not to mention that out of all the seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, only one couple has actually gotten married (at least to each other)! So now Jason and Melissa have called things off due to "a change in chemistry", Molly may be able to call Jason her own--if she even wants to now.
Megan Fox is on the Market Still Dating a Has-Been

Okay, is there anyone out there who, when they first heard that Megan Fox was in a relationship (and engaged!) with Brian Austin Green, didn't react by saying, "Why?!?" We heard earlier that Megan Fox dumped the former 90210 actor, and we were hoping she would move on to bigger and better (also younger and hotter) things. Because really, B.A.G.'s coolness faded once the 21st century began, and Miss Fox is the hottest thing in Hollywood right now--and she is way too young to be a stepmom. But now that they are apparently back together again, I feel this sham of a break-up is worthy of a rant (well, actually, the whole relationship is worthy of a rant). Seriously Megan, let us know when you get serious and dump the old-timer.
Busrider Beheader Found Not Guilty
Do you guys remember when that crazy guy beheaded a fellow passenger on a Canadian bus? Well, get ready to go back to driving solo, because he was found not guilty by reason of insanity. I am not going to go into the insanely horrifying details, but there was suspicion of cannibalism--and now this mad man may go loose one day--and that day may be soon. So friends, please take our advice and stay off the Canadian bus service.
Raves:
Kate Winslet's cover for Time magazine

I absolutely LOVE this picture of Kate Winslet. Since poor Kate made the rant section of the Oscar's for that terrible helmet hair-don't, we are more than happy to have a reason to celebrate her now. This picture is so natural and stunning; it truly highlights the unique beauty of the actress. Nothing about it is overdone, and the simple elegance seems to radiant from within her. I love that she is so confident in her understated look, and I hope that the rest of Hollywood embraces the look of natural beauty.
Britney's Comeback Tour
Britney Spears recently began her comeback tour, and she looked good! Great job getting back in shape, Britney--as well as back on track. No one can deny that she has come a long way on a hard journey, so she deserves the success she will be getting from this tour. Let's hope she can continue on this road to improvement--because she really does have the potential to be so much more.
FML
After reading this article about the website "F*** My Life", I was completely addicted to the site for about three days straight. FML. The site allows people to send in their anecdotes about crappy events in their life that just suck beyond comparison. For example, one of my favorites is, "Today, a child sitting next to me on the bus pointed at me and asked: 'Mommy, when it's not a man and it's not a woman, what is it then?' FML." So in case you didn't see this article the first time around, I seriously recommend getting over and checking it out before heading over to the actual site itself. Do it, at the very least because you need someone's life to be worse than your own.
The Jonas Brother's Sing for a Terminally Ill Girl
[jwplayer|config=Hollywire|width=425|height=344|file=http://www.youtube.com/v/QTKMBScnhQQ|image=http://i4.ytimg.com/vi/QTKMBScnhQQ/hqdefault.jpg]
I'm not a Jonas Brother's fan; most of the time I think they are a bit of a sham. But they have done a really lovely thing by singing to Jayla, a 9-year-girl with leukemia. After hearing about her dancing to their song during her "wedding" to a younger boy who is also ill, the Jonas Brother's stopped by her house to sing her an a cappella version of "Love Bug". And even though the oldest one seems to look really awkward during the visit, I will admit that their hearts where in the right place. Really, it's so sweet.
Well, that's it for this week. But don't worry, I'm sure by next week, there will be plenty more to rant and rave about.
