Ugly Betty In Its Final Season

ABC has decided not to go ahead with a fifth season of “Ugly Betty”. And Entertainment Weekly says that the network has cut this seasons episodes by 2 from its original scale of 22.  In a joint statement made by Executive Producer Silvio Horta and ABC’s President Steve McPherson:

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this ‘Ugly Betty’s’ final season; …and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”

A lack of ratings is to blame for the cancellation of this Colombian telenovela spinoff.

Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Victoria Beckham, Martha Stewart, Salma Hayek, Naomi Campbell, Isaac Mizrahi, and Lucy Liu all made guest appearances on the show.

America Ferrera made her Hollywood debut in “Real Women Have Curves” which debuted at The Sundance Film Festival in ‘92.   Her acting caught the likes of the professional world gaining her a role in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and as star of “Ugly Betty”.

Ferrera made an appearance at this years Sundance Film Festival in “The Dry Land.”  A film written and directed by Ferrera’s boyfriend, Ryan Piers Williams.  The film “features her as a troubled wife dealing with the violent mood swings of her husband (Ryan O’Nan), a soldier afflicted with post-traumatic stress disorder from combat in Iraq,”  (CBS News) a character we have not had the opportunity to see her play before.

Ferrera will also be in the Dreamworks animated comedy “How to Train Your Dragon” as the voice of Astrid, a blonde, blue-eyed Viking warrior.

Be sure to catch “Betty” in its final season Wednesday nights on ABC right after “Cougar Town”.
