OMG! As a fan of the Deadliest Catch I am deeply saddened to report that Captain Phil Harris, of the Cornelia Marie, was airlifted to a hospital in Anchorage, Alaska after suffering a stroke.

Phil underwent a 12-hour emergency surgery last night and was placed in a medically induced coma.

According to TMZ, Phil and his crew were off-loading their boat when the stroke occurred and was immediately airlifted out.  Jake and Josh, Phil’s sons stayed back with their dad as the Cornelia Marie went back out to sea.

A source close to the family said the Phil was put in a coma to reduce brain swelling after the surgery and a rep for Discovery says Phil “is resting comfortably and is in the care of excellent doctors and nurses.”

This might just be the end of his captaining career, which already came close to ending two season ago when he suffered a blood clot.  Hopefully, Phil makes a full and speedy recovery.
