Tyler Perry Opens a New Studio
Filmmaker Tyler Perry has open a new TV studio in Southwest Atlanta, Georgia. Perry had recently stated that he planned to leave Atlanta because his old studio, that was located in a neighborhood near downtown, was receiving numerous complaints due to the amount of noise and traffic it caused. Perry stated, "I was thinking about leaving at one point, but this is home for me." He also said that he felt that the old studio was "spiritually in the wrong place."
The new studio is built on 30 acres and has over 200,000 square feet of studio and office space. Perry said that his TBS sitcoms "House of Payne" and "Meet the Browns" will be shot there.
The opening ceremony for Tyler Perry Studios took place on Saturday, October 4th. Will Smith, Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Hank Aaron, and Whitney Houston along with many other celebrities attended the opening.
