Heath Ledger, Did He Deserve It?

Do you think that he deserved to win even though he is no longer with us?  I will admit that he did an amazing job in Dark Night.  A huge improvement from "10 Things I Hate About You".  But he will not be able to appreciate this award like other living stars?  I know that its morbid, but do you think he won just because he died or would he have won if he was still alive?

[...] outrage that would come if he didn’t get it.  Sure, he did a good job in The Dark Knight, but would he have gotten the award if he was still alive?  We’ll never [...]

yes he did. just because he died does not mean he should not get it. thats like winning a race but u die so they give it to 2end place if h was alive he would be very thankfull but it does not matter if he would be thankfull or not he earned it. and i think he would had got it even if he was alive but to die with ur last (full) movie to be ur best performance oscar worthy that people will remember u by is a great thing he will be rememberd as the best joker ever and for ever b.c. i dout if they make another batman movie with the joker in it. the joker will have nothing on him he did simply amazeing

Its gonna sound wrong but I am one of those people that think he only got it because he was dead, if he was alive he wouldn't have got it.

First of all, just want to say a well-recognized fact: we aren't recognized for our death, but recognized for what we did in life. So what if you kill yourself for the attention (and not saying anyone will do that anyway). The crowd notices, sympathizes/criticizes a bit, and moves on. That's the same for every death in the world. The world keeps living to keep living, and everyone in it. That simple.

And Ledger's accomplishments don't rack up to nothing. He's starred in pretty good movies, not just Dark Knight (hinting a certain pro-gay-movement film). And he's deserved the credit for such good acting. Why shouldn't his acting in this movie be like any other? After all, as nature dictates, we as a people give more credit to the living than the dead.

So in conclusion, criticizing his worth for the Oscar would be pointless. Because you aren't shaming his death, but his life in neglecting to remember that that's what really matters.
