Leighton Meester Is A Good Girl Gone Bad

Who knew that Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester could sing. Apparently she is signed with Universal Republic via Time-Act Music and has collaborated with Cobra Starship on their new single "Good Girls Gone Bad."
The song is produced by 'American Idol' judge Kara DioGuardi. It will appear in Cobra Starship's forthcoming third studio album "Hot Mess".

MTV gives a backstage pass to the making of the video
Who is Cobra Starship you ask. Well a band created by former Midtown bassist and lead vocalist Gabe Saporta, developed a cult following after being featured on the Snakes on a Plane soundtrack.

The boys heard some of Leighton's music and asked the GG's star to lend her voice their track and to star in their video.
Buddytv.com reports:
"I had heard that Leighton was working on a record and I really, really, really wanted to do a song with her, because I'm a big superfan of hers," Saporta said. He recalled thinking, "[Good Girls] would be perfect for Leighton because it's already kind of her character in Gossip Girl, like the perfect girl with the bad streak."
The video won't premiere until mid June, but according to MTV, the concept of the video is that Meester runs an underground speakeasy, complete with shelves of booze, gambling tables and a dance floor. The band is in control of the above-ground deli, which acts as a front operation to hide the debauchery within. To gain access to the illegal club, patrons must order the correct sandwich and proceed down a staircase.

Cobra Starship's newest CD is set for release on August 11. Meanwhile, Leighton is also working on her debut album which hits stores this fall.
