Mike Rowe and his dirty jobs

Mike Rowe

We all know and love Mike Rowe from the disgustingly hilarious Discovery Channel show Dirty Jobs. But, did you know Mike sang professionally with the Baltimore Opera? I came across a You Tube video and he has the voice of an angel.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel he spoke about his time with the opera and said that all these Dirty Jobs are penance for his time spent in his early career having it easy. Such as the time he spent in the opera.
I got into the opera because I couldn't get my SAG card and if you get your AGMA card when you're in the opera, this is the singing union, you can buy your way into show business essentially... and what I really liked was the repertory company had about 60 people in it. 40 were girls and 20 were guys, 15 of the guys had no interest in the girls at all. The remaining 5 of us, 3 were married and one had a big mole with a lot of hair out of it so I was like...

Mike trails off as the audience laughs. He stated that he ended up spending 5 years in the opera, confessing that he ended up digging the music and the 40 girls was a nice bonus.

If you have ever watched T.V. you have probably heard his baritone as he has done the voice over on over 9 different shows. Deadliest Catch having over 37 episodes alone. Mike has logged over 1,000 hours of television narration and has performed in dozens of theatrical productions.

A man's man and a true hero for the everyday guy, Mike Rowe is well liked by all that meet him. He is humble and down to earth. You can tell by watching his show, and hearing the way he speaks to these people that he has deep respect for what they do and understands the importance of their dirty jobs.

Hats off to you good sir
