OK! Magazine’s Michael Jackson Cover

Posted on 02 July 2009 by Loretta

OK! magazine shocked many with it’s cover featuring a photo Michael Jackson in what appears to be his final moments.

OK! allegedly paid close to $500,000 for the rights to the photo in the U.K. and U.S. and published the photo on both the U.S. and U.K. versions of their magazine.  You can see the photos in the video below.

OK! magazine’s editorial director had this to say about the cover,

It’s a photo that captures the surprise and the upset and the moment of this breaking news story.  I hope the cover will provoke readers.  It celebrated the man, but it also does expose that he was an ecccentric character who lived a very controversial life.

OK! has suffered quite the fall out from the use of this photo and according to one source, “media buyers have canceled upcoming meetings to discuss rates.  It’s a adisgrace.  They’ve sunk to a new low.”

I wonder if their fall out will be as bad as Perez Hilton’s.  What do you think?

I think that Ok went too far putting this last image of Michael on their cover. I mean at this moment Michael is dead. I don’t want to rememeber him that way. Give me a happy picture.

I think that OK! went too far with this printing this picture on their cover aswell. I mean it would be one thing if he was alive and going to the hospital. If it were something like Britney Spears’ trip to the hospital where we knew she was coming out alive. But this being his last photo, it should not be displayed on any magazine cover.

I agree. Who even took this photo. Even in death he had no privacy.
