Some of the Best & Worst Celebrity Photo Remakes

Today's celebrities are feeling the need to pay tribute to past Hollywood legends by recreating their works. Some remakes have turned out beautifully and some not so much.  Here is my list of some of the best and worst celebrity remakes:

In July 1962, Marilyn Monroe took part in a 3 day photo shoot at the Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills, CA. Little did she know that it would be her last.  Six weeks after the photos were taken, Marilyn was found dead from a drug overdose making the photo shoot infamously known as "The Last Sitting."

46 years and several remakes later, Lindsay Lohan decided to take on the recreation of "The Last Sitting." Lindsay, who's a huge Marilyn Monroe fan (she even named her fashion line after her), was photographed wearing a blonde Marilyn Monroe wig by photographer Bert Stern (the same photographer that shot "The Last Sitting") at the Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills for New York magazine.

Lohan's portrayal of Marilyn Monroe was less than impressive to say the least.  Lindsay, who is at times beautiful in her own right, managed to make her self look down-right trashy in these photos.  The photographer didn't capture Lindsay's beauty the way he captured Marilyn's 46 years ago.

Demi Moore started a new trend amongst the women in Hollywood by posing naked and pregnant on the August 1991 cover of Vanity Fair.

Heidi Klum posed pregnant and nude in 2005 for Vitals magazine, as did Christinia Aguilera in 2007 for Marie Claire, and Melissa Joan Hart in 2008; but, it's Britney Spears who gets my vote for the best pregnant and nude remake.

Britney's appearance on the cover of the August 2006 issue of Harper's Bazaar received mixed reviews.  At the time of this photo shoot Britney was at the beginning of what would become a complete psychological meltdown.  Her fans didn't approve of her marriage to Kevin Federline or the fact that her first and second pregnancies were so close together.

Many criticized Britney for being on the cover of Harper's Bazaar because, in the weeks prior to the release of her nude photos, she went on national TV crying and complaining about how she hated the amount of attention she was receiving.  I remember seeing these photos and thinking...Britney doesn't look that great, these are totally photo-shopped; but, now two years later, looking at the same pictures, I think Britney looked great as she showed the world just how proud she was of her second pregnancy.

Demi Moore's 1991 cover also brings me to one of the worst remakes...The first pregnant man Thomas Beatie.  Although Thomas Beatie may look beautiful in the transgender world, for most of us his pregnancy pictures were disturbing.  It's not natural to see a pregnant belly combined with a flat chest and hairy armpits, unless your in Europe.

Another photo shoot that suffered wide spread criticism is Jessica Simpson's remake of Virna Lisi's March 1965 Esquire Magazine cover.  Many thought that this is one cover that should have been left in the past; but, I think that Jessica captured the same awkwardness and attention that Lisi did back in 1965. If the people at Esquire would have chosen to go with a more practical image of Jessica for the cover do you think it would have achieved the same level of attention and the same amount of sales?  I think not... which is why it made my list of best remakes.

My last remake on the list and one that should have been left alone, is not a magazine cover, it's Michael Jackson's song Beat It.  I don't know why The Fallout Boys thought that they could remake Beat It successfully.  The Fall Out Boys are so proud of their remake and I am sure that they have some fans that thought it sounded great, but for me I'm not feeling it.  Check out the clip below and tell me what you think.

I thought that the Fall Out Boys did a good job with the remake. Lindsay on the other hand looks nasty!
