Taking a cue from movie classic Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Zac Efron went to the White House to lobby on behalf of Americans for the Arts. Zac was accompanied with his Me and Orson Welles co-star Claire Danes and director Richard Linklater. The trio met with White House administration officials, in lieu of President Obama and the First Lady, to lobby for more funding for art programs in our schools.
The President and First Lady were in Texas for a memorial service at Fort Hood.
Efron, Danes, and Linklater were in Washington D.C. for the screening of Me and Orson Welles which took place later on that night. I like Zac’s style, killing two birds with one stone.
Once again young Hollywood are using their powers for good, rather then evil. There are many things wrong with our education system, and not having programs for the arts is one of them. You can visit artsusa.org to find out more, like how you can help Zac and Claire in their efforts or other ways to get involved.
